Spring Breaks on Exmoor

We all know the tell-tale signs that Spring is arriving, when the temperature starts to rise, the days start drawing out and we awake to the sound of the dawn chorus. When we're out and about we witness the perfusion of colour as the Daffodil's, Bluebells and Wild Garlic transform our woodland floors, and look up and the canopies start to take shape in a sea of green. Up on the open moorland, the first steps of the Exmoor Pony foals can be witnessed, along with the welcoming sound of the Cuckoo, and if you are sharp enough you might even see or here the Skylark. Strolling along the rivers banks there is a good chance that you might glimpse a Dipper feeding its young, or witness a blue flash as a Kingfisher darts by, or see a wild Brook Trout rising to take a newly hatched Mayfly, such is the power of nature that all around us is transformed into a new lease of life.
